Scherer Building Corporation has been in the construction business for over 13 years. In that time, SBC has developed into an experienced “healthy” homebuilder with a reputation to back this claim. Scott Scherer, President & Owner, has worked hard to earn the respect of many customers as well as his peers. He has aligned himself with organizations that uphold the same attitudes and principals in regards to building a quality product.

Beginning at the age of 14 years old, Scott Scherer began his career in the construction business as a general laborer, sweeping up and hauling garbage. During these early years, Scott was exposed to every working trade on the job; he gained valuable experience in seeing the “bigger” picture of every construction project. He furthered his knowledge even more by becoming a master carpenter in 1986.

In 1989, he assumed the role of a general contractor in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Scott quickly learned what not to do in building a home, since had witnessed many repair and remodel projects where the original contractor “cut corners” and the end result was a poorly built home. This led Scott to discover organizations like the American Lung Association’s “Health House” department, and EEBA (Energy & Environmental Builders Association). He focused in on building only high-quality homes, which uphold & exceed the building codes and standards with being energy-efficient. Since 1995, Scherer Building Corporation has been Health House Certified Builder and recently obtained the certification of an EEBA Master Builder. Advancing his building science education at every opportunity is a priority for Scott. He concentrates on building with quality materials and the best craftsmanship. According to Scott, "Do it right the first time, or don’t do it at all.” 

One of many crowning achievements was the construction of a “top-of-the-line” Health House in 2000, which was worth over $1,000,000.

At SBC, we take the science of building very seriously. Scott Scherer has been studying building science for over 10 years. We design the home to be waterproof starting with the site’s design, architecture, materials, & labor. Our staff is well educated and quality driven. We “micro-manage” the home’s construction from start to finish. We rarely have callbacks, and if so, we address them immediately. Our projects may take a little longer to complete, but we know when the job is done, it is done right – the first time.
